Venture Capital Investors

Israel is ranked among the top nations benefiting from foreign venture capital -- in some indexes even exceeding the US and Canada -- a result of our excellence in advanced research and high technology.

In 2005, an estimated US $1.4 billion in venture capital will be raised for investment in Israeli high-tech firms. Foreign and domestic equity shareholders have consistently benefited from investments in Israel since the early 1990s, especially in the fields of communications and software. In recent years, Israeli life sciences firms have increasingly benefited from venture capital investment.

Although global venture capital investment in nanotechnology remains relatively low, Israel has already garnered a significant portion of such venture deals, placing fourth in the total amount of venture capital dollars invested in nanotech start-ups (at relative purchasing power parity), according to the 2005 Nations Ranking report issued by Lux Research.

When the venture capital industry makes nanotech an essential component of their portfolios, Israeli nanotechnology firms will be among the first to benefit.
